Agnes "Aggie" Norris

October 23, 1921 — November 28, 2013

A memorial service celebrating the life of Agnes "Aggie" Kincaid Norris, 92, of Granville, will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, December 5, 2013 at First Presbyterian Church, 110 W. Broadway, Granville with Rev. Karen J. Chakoian as celebrant. Burial will follow on Friday at 1:00 P.M. at Woodmere Memorial Park in Huntington, W. VA.

Aggie passed away Thursday, November 28, 2013 at Kendal at Granville. She was born October 23, 1921 in Huntington W. VA to the late George and Margaret (Malaly) Kincaid.

A 1939 graduate of Huntington High School, Aggie was employed by Dr. Ewen Taylor and later became a sales clerk and cosmetics representative at Anderson-Newcomb Department Store in Huntington where she was employed for many years.

A member of First Presbyterian Church in Granville, Aggie was also a member of Winter Picnic, Music Club, and Fort Nightly Club. She enjoyed attending the Weathervane Clubhouse, Newark-Granville Symphony, Concert on the Green, and the Vail Series at Denison University.

Aggie enjoyed watching birds, delivering Russell Stover candies to friends and area businesses, working the daily crossword puzzle, and playing a competitive game of Scrabble. Nothing was more endearing to her than her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Memories of vacations on the Eastern shore of Virginia will be long cherished.

Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Margaret "Maggie" and Gil Barno of Granville; son and daughter-in-law, Gordon and Page Humphreys of Leland, NC; grandchildren and their spouses, Kendall and Jeanette Carpenter, Christian Carpenter, and Michael Carpenter, Laura and Brian McDonnell, and Taylor and Katie Humphreys; three great grandchildren, Sarah, John, and Sam; and sister, Iris Kincaid Buffington of Virginia Beach, VA.

In addition to her parents, Aggie was preceded in death by her husbands, Gordon Humphreys, who died in 1982, James Clyde Turner, who died in 1988, and Howard K. Norris, who died in 2011, two brothers, and one sister.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, December 4, 2013 from 5 to 8 P.M. at the McPeek-Hoekstra Funeral Home in Granville. Online condolences may be expressed at www.mcpeekhoekstra.com
