Alyce Hankinson Hiles

May 6, 1936 — January 19, 2012

Alyce Hankinson Hiles, 75, of Granville, Ohio went home to be with the Lord on Jan. 19, 2012, surrounded by her loving family. She caught a glimpse of Heaven, and it took her breath away.

She was born in Granville, Ohio on May 6, 1936 to the late Marshall Hankinson and Marguerite Wright-Hankinson. She graduated from Granville High School where one of her fondest memories was being a majorette. Alyce met and married her high school sweetheart, Jim, and together they built a life and home in which Randy, Krista, Vicky, and Angela would learn about the simple, forever things Alyce knew to be God's obvious secret to living a life fulfilled. She cherished the simple things in her life.

As a sixty three year member of Centenary United Methodist Church of Granville, she faithfully served in many ways, including serving as president of the United Methodist Women.

One of her greatest joys in life was riding her horses. She also cherished her dogs and cats and had a limitless love for animals.

She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Jim Hiles; her children, Randy Hiles of Granville, Krista (Ric) Ellis of Hudson, Ohio, Vicky (Mike) Wygle of St. Louisville, Ohio and Angela (Bryan) Maselli of Granville; brother, Dennis (Gayla) Hankinson of Hebron, Ohio; grandchildren, Derrick (Kristen), Ashley (Paul), Meghan and Kile; great-grandchildren, Dominic, Elise, Dylan, and Dallas.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her infant brother, Dean Lee Hankinson.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 24, 2012 at Centenary United Methodist Church, 102 E. Broadway, Granville with Rev. Stephen J. Cramer officiating. A private graveside service will be held at Welsh Hills Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 23, 2012 at McPeek-Hoekstra Funeral Home, 133 S. Prospect St, Granville. Online condolences may be expressed at www.mcpeekhoekstra.com.
