Anne L. Thomas

June 14, 1918 — November 18, 2014

Anne Louise Thomas, nee Tiedeman died peacefully November 18th, 2014 at Kendal at Granville, surrounded by her family. She was 96.

Anne was born June 14, 1918 in St. Louis to Irma and Edwin Tiedeman. She grew up in Belleville, IL and graduated from Belleville High School, prior to marrying William R. "Big Daddy" Thomas, Sr. on August 6th, 1940.

A daughter of a dairy farmer, she moved to Granville in 1955 with her husband and two young sons and settled what became fondly known as the "T Ranch". In addition to her devotion to family and raising her five grandchildren, which earned her the nickname, GG (Granville Grandma), she was also a part of the Granville fabric whether it be Sunday night picnics at Spring Valley, volunteering at Twig 6, or hosting large dinners for friends and family. She and Big Daddy were early members of Town and Country, and contributed to a number of silly parties and fond memories with a relatively raucous crowd. Those same relationships developed into her most recent years, when she hosted her weekly "Tea and Crumpets" group every Sunday morning on the front porch of the T Ranch.

Anne's "need to know" led her to be a life-long learner and avid reader, something she enjoyed doing in Naples where her devoted son, Bill assisted in maintaining her independence. Her simple pleasures included a cup of tea, a piece of chocolate, and spending time on the lanai in Florida or the front porch in Granville.

Surviving are her sons, William R Thomas, Jr. of Naples, FL and Rick (Lisa) Thomas of Hudson, OH; five grandchildren, Dr. Richard Thomas, Jr., Paul Thomas, John Thomas, Ryan Wilcox, and Courtney Wilcox; and sister, Jane Dahm.

In addition to her parents, Anne was preceded in death by her husband of 39 years and her sister, Barbara Jett.

A private graveside service will be held at Maple Grove Cemetery in Granville. Online condolences may be expressed at www.mcpeekhoekstra.com.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Foundation for Hospice of Central Ohio, P.O. Box 430, Newark, OH 43058.
