A memorial service celebrating the life of Barbara Lantz Yokoyama Hughes, 72, of Granville will be held Thursday, July 21, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Centenary United Methodist Church, 102 E. Broadway, Granville with Pastor Bob Long officiating. Private burial will be held at Maple Grove Cemetery in Granville.
Daughter of the late Drexel and Frances (VanHorn) Lantz, Barbara was born in Granville, Ohio and graduated from Granville High School in 1957. She died Saturday, July 16, 2011 at the Selma Markowitz Care Center in Newark.
Barbara was a former stewardess for American Airlines based in New York and Los Angeles. She was a member and held several offices in the Columbus Chapter of the Kiwi Club, a national organization of former and current American Airline flight attendants, and a member of Centenary United Methodist Church in Granville for over 50 years. She retired in 1999 from the Payroll/ Accounting Dept. at Kaiser Aluminum after 32 years and was a volunteer and member of TWIGS 8 at Licking Memorial before her illness.
Barbara is survived by her husband, Douglas Hughes of Granville, whom she married July 3, 1991; son, Drexel Yokoyama of Granville; one granddaughter, Remington Yokoyama of Granville; former daughter-in-law, Diane Yokoyama of Granville; step-sons, Matt, Mike and Andy (Marcy) Hughes; and step-grandson, Joshua Hughes all of Granville.
Family will receive friends Wednesday, July 20, 2011 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the McPEEK-HOEKSTRA FUNERAL HOME, 133 S. Prospect St., Granville. Online condolences may be expressed at www.mcpeekhoekstra.com.
