Barbara Rush

December 4, 1932 — September 17, 2013

Barbara Rush, 80, passed away on September 17, 2013 with her loving family by her side. Barbara was born December 4, 1932 to Rose and Charles Vlossak in Palmerton, Pennsylvania. She graduated from Washington High School in Washington, New Jersey, where she met her husband, Robert. They married on May 16, 1953. She received a BS in education from William Paterson College and a M.Ed from the Ohio State University. After moving to Ohio in 1976, she worked for Franklin County MRDD as an infant development specialist. Under Barbara's care, many struggling infants met important developmental milestones.

Barbara's passions included being with family and friends, cooking, and tending to the earth. An avid gardener, she provided many with the fruits and beauty of her labors. An accomplished cook, she shared traditional meals and recipes from generations. An eternal Earth Mother, she nurtured the value and respect for all living things. She belonged to the United Church of Granville where she was a charter member of the Feminist Class and The Spiritual Women's Circle. She will be remembered among her family and friends as an open-hearted, vivacious soul and a true goddess of the earth.

She touched the hearts of so many and will be greatly missed, especially by her husband, Robert, her six children and their spouses; Glenn & Mary Lou Rush, Judy Rush & Ben Corcoran, Audrey Rush, Bob Rush, Maggie & Bill Hanna, and Tom & Angie Rush, her 16 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

A memorial and celebration of Barbara's life will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Sunday, October 13, 2013 at the United Church of Granville, 115 W. Broadway, Granville, with Rev. Dwight Davidson as celebrant. The family will receive friends on hour prior to the service at the church.
