Barbara A. Sunkle

A graveside service will be held for Barbara A. Sunkle, 91, of Granville, at 10:30 A.M. on December 19, 2020 at St. Joseph Cemetery, 11396 Jug Street Road, Johnstown, Ohio with Rev. Janice Hilkerbaumer as celebrant. Social distancing and masks will be required.

Barbara passed away December 4, 2020 at Middleton Senior Living in Granville. She was born in Columbus, Ohio to the late Frank and Martha Obert. A member of Alexandria High School’s class of 1947, Barbara retired from Denison University where she worked in food service.

A social butterfly, Barbara never met a stranger. She adored her Middleton friends and staff, especially playing bingo, euchre, and crafts. Bus trips and time spent with friends from the Alexandria Buckeyes and Johnstown Seniors Club were cherished. She kept her love of farming throughout her life and also enjoyed camping and her time living in Granville. Barbara was a caring and helpful person that could be ornery and was known for her resolute determination. She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, and sister.

Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Ann M. and Michael Showman; cherished grandchildren and their spouses, Theresa Showman and Jason Muhlenkamp and Brian and Meghan Showman; great grandson, Colin Showman; treasured sister, Juanita Obert; and beloved niece and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by her brothers and sisters-in-law, Francis and Grace Obert and Bernard and Dona Obert.

The family is very grateful to the staff of Middleton Senior Living for the loving care they gave Barbara.
