Benjamin "Ben" D. Whitehead

A memorial service celebrating the life of Benjamin D. “Ben” Whitehead, 71, of Granville, will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday, September 14, 2018 at Centenary United Methodist Church, 102 E. Broadway, Granville with Rev. Casey Wilson as celebrant. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.

A gentleman, farmer, and retired agent with State Farm, Ben passed away September 11, 2018 at his home. He was born in Granville to the late Henry E. and Roberta Whitehead. He graduated from Granville High School and then completed his bachelor’s degree at Wilmington College after serving in the U.S. Air Force.

Ben was a member of the Angus Association, Ohio Cattlemen’s Association, Pataskala Rotary Club, Sertoma, and served as president of the Pataskala Chamber of Commerce. Raising Angus and farming were his favorite past times. He was a passionate Buckeyes fan and will be remembered for his humility, kind and generous spirit, love of people, and his ability to listen.

Surviving are his beloved family and wife of 47 years, Katherine “Buffy” Whitehead, children and their spouses, David and Jen Whitehead and Kim and Jason Lohnes; grandchildren, Matthew, Andrew, and Spencer; and nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Ben was preceded in death by his brother, Marion W. Whitehead who died in 2013.
