Betty M Goodlett

A private graveside service for Betty M. Goodlett, 100, of Newark, formerly of Granville, will be in Maple Grove Cemetery in Granville with Pastor Thomas Beeman officiating.

Mrs. Goodlett, who retired in 1973 from Denison University where she had worked for 24 years, died May 19, 2008, at Autumn Health Care in Newark.  She was born April 25, 1908, in Licking County to the late Ernest and Mary (Morgan) Brady.

Mrs. Goodlett was a member of the Cedar Hill Community Church in Newark and the Licking County Senior Citizens Club.  Her hobbies included needlework, ceramics and reading and she was a devoted grandmother to her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Surviving are her daughters and sons-in-law, Linda S. Carlile and Ron Kappes of Nashport, Nancy L. and Chuck Young of Granville, and Kathy A. and Ross Lichtenstein of  Leesburg, FL; five grandchildren and their spouses, Becky and Larry Reber of Poulsbo, WA, Bob and Shalimar Carlile of Goshen, IN, Janice and Carlo LoRaso of Granville, Jennifer Young of Columbus, and Steve and Erin Lichtenstein of Studio City, CA; five great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John R. Goodlett, who died May 4, 1980; one daughter, Martha Jean Weiser, who died May 28, 1980; two grandsons, Steve Weiser and Jeffrey Carlile; son-in-law, Chuck Weiser; three brothers; and one sister.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the McPeek Funeral Home, 133 S. Prospect St., Granville.
