Betty L. Patterson

A funeral service for Betty L. Patterson, 87, of Newark, formerly of Granville, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at the McPeek Funeral Home, 133 S. Prospect Street, Granville with Pastor Gus Christo-Baker officiating. Burial will follow at Welsh Hills Cemetery in Granville.

A devoted mother and grandmother, Betty, died Saturday, July 26, 2008 at the Selma Markowitz Care Center, operated by Hospice of Central Ohio. She was born September 26, 1920 in Newark to the late Roy and Anna (Hunt) Long.

Betty graduated from Newark High School with the class of 1939. She attended Linnville Community Church and Marne United Methodist Church. She enjoyed doing word searches and will be fondly remembered by her ability to touch people by the way she lived.

Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Mitzie and Ned W. Wilson of Newark; grandsons and their wives, Scott Wilson of Fresno, Calif., Brian and Holly Wilson of Newark, and Craig and Jen Wilson of Columbus; great-granddaughter, Jessica Wilson of Newark; nieces and nephews, and her special sister-in-law, Ginny Long.

In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by two husbands, Mel Lindsey and Charles "Pat" Patterson; two brothers, Pete and Don Long; two sisters, Helen Bosscawen and Martha Carter.
