Cathrin C. Romei

A graveside service will be held at a later date for Cathrin C. Romei, 93, of Louisville, KY, formerly of Granville, at Maple Grove Cemetery in Granville.

Cathrin died December 30, 2009 at Forum at Brookside in Louisville, Kentucky. She was born December 16, 1916 in Granville to the late Clarence D. and Blonda (Watts) Coons.

A retired math teacher for Newark Schools, Cathrin, was a graduate of Denison University. She was protestant by faith, enjoyed traveling, and was a perfectionist at cross stitching. She will fondly be remembered for her volunteerism to her community which included the Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, Denison's Children's Theater, American Red Cross, Granville Schools, and Band Boosters.

Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Julie and Sam Mitchell of Louisville, KY; sons and daughter-in-law, Richard and Martie Romei of Newark, Steven Romei of Stanford, CT; grandchildren and their spouses, Chris and Dawn Romei, Jill Mitchell, Shelly Jones all of Lousiville, KY, Craig and Annette Romei of Chandler, AZ, and Michael Romei of Brookline, MA. All seven great grandchildren will cherish loving memories of their "Grams".

In addition to her husband Julius Romei, Cathrin was preceded in death by two sisters, Peggy (Coons) Marner and Jane (Coons) Armstrong.
