A funeral service for Charles Wagner, 82, of Newark, formerly of Granville, will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, at St. John's Lutheran Church, 6004 Linnville Road, Newark with Pastor Daniel Sparling officiating. Burial will follow at Lutheran Cemetery in Newark with military honors provided by the Licking County Veterans Alliance.
Charles, a Senior Buyer who retired in 1986 from AT&T, died July 22, 2008 at his home. He was born August 29, 1925 to the late William F. and Mildred Viola (Stickle) Wagner.
Charles attended the University of Minnesota and graduated in 1949. During WWII, he served his country in the U.S. Navy aboard U.S.S. LSM 315 as a motor machinist mate. Charles was of member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Newark, Newark Vibrators Model "A" Ford Club, and the U.S.S. LSMR Association.
Surviving are his sons and daughters-in-law, Scott W. and Eugenia Wagner of Newark, and Bret J. and Cynthia Wagner of Portage, Mich; grandchildren, Kayloni Wagner of Newark, Emily, Robert, and Stewart Wagner of Portage, Mich; and sister-in-law, Lillian P. Wagner of Morristown, TN.
In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by his wife, Audrey June Wagner, who died Oct. 13, 2004, and two brothers, Fred and William Wagner.
