Charles "Chuck" William Gregg

Charles “Chuck” William Gregg SR, age 85, of Newark, passed away peacefully on December 21, 2024, at SharonBrooke Assisted Living Facility.  He was born on August 11, 1939, to William Gregg and Estella (“Teddy” Ankrum Gregg Ricket) on Oakwood Ave, Newark Ohio.

The family moved to Columbus Ohio when Chuck was 10 years old.  He graduated from North High School.  Chuck was a journeyman electrician for Latery electric and Ohio Home Builders.  He also worked for Bogen (Airton) then Aire Flo as a HVAC tech.

Chuck married Effie “Jean” Wright (Bernard) in 1983, and they moved to Kissimmee, Florida in 1984 where he worked for Walt Disney World as a HVAC tech/planned work specialist.  He retired in 2004, and he and Jean moved back to Newark, Ohio and worked part-time with his son Charles Gregg JR.

Chuck was an avid amateur radio operator “WBCWS”, loved to work on electronics and could play the accordion.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Jean, April 2023.  He is survived by his sister Midge Wyrick of Rotunda West, Florida, son Charles “Chuck” (Dona) Gregg JR, of Canal Winchester, Ohio. One grandson William J Gregg, 3 great grandkids in addition 4 stepchildren, Don (Kim) Bernard of Raleigh NC, Dan (Janet) Bernard of Satellite Beach FL, Tim Bernard of Raleigh NC, Paty Bernard of Newark OH, 5 step grandkids and 7 step great grandkids.

Graveside services will be held later at Maple Grove Cemetery, Granville OH.
