Charles "Doug" Douglas Jones

A graveside service will be held for Charles Douglas “Doug” Jones, 75, of Columbus, at 2:00 P.M. Friday, December 30, 2022 at Poplar Fork Cemetery, Gratiot with Rev. Casey Wilson as Celebrant. Military honors will be rendered by the Licking County Veterans Alliance.

A 1965 graduate of Granville High School, Doug passed away December 24, 2022 at Mt. Carmel East Hospital in Columbus. He was born in Newark to the late Frank and Gladys (Snider) Jones.

Doug earned his degree in communications at Ohio University. He served in the 101st Airborne Division of the U.S. Army and during Vietnam he was stationed in Germany. He would later retire from Defense Supply Center Columbus where he worked with military accounts.

Football, track, and band were Doug’s high school activities. He enjoyed Civil War history, sketching, telling a good story, and German food, but his passion in life were horses, specifically thoroughbred racehorses. He will be remembered as a dedicated father and grandfather who believed in family values and commitment.

Surviving are his children, Katharine Jones and Kristopher Jones; granddaughters, Harper and Ava; and sister, Diane Jones.

The family will receive friends Friday, prior to the graveside service, from 11 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. at McPeek-Hoekstra Funeral Home, 133 S. Prospect St., Granville. Online condolences may be expressed at www.mcpeekhoekstra.com.
