Cheryl Franz

November 12, 1959 — July 30, 2012

A memorial service for Cheryl Franz, 52, of Granville will be held 11:00 A.M. Friday, August 3, 2012 at Centenary United Methodist Church, 102 E. Broadway, Granville with Rev. Stephen J. Cramer officiating.

After a courageous battle with cancer, Cheryl passed away with her family at her side on Monday, July 30, 2012 at her home. She was born Nov. 12, 1959 in Columbus, Ohio to Harold and Joyce (McKay) Hardin of Powell.

A graduate of Columbus College of Art and Design, Cheryl struck out on her own when she established Hardin Design in1985. She was exceptionally artistic and ridiculously creative. Her personally designed Christmas cards and handmade gifts were highly anticipated traditions for family and friends. Birthdays and holidays were always excuses for creative excess that family, friends and neighbors adored. She loved the outdoors -- travel, camping, skiing, hiking, and anything else that gave her an excuse to be outside. Family camping trips at National Parks were an annual summer highlight. She gave lovingly of herself to so many people ... she will always be remembered for her kind heart, gentle spirit, and easy laugh. She was a loving, devoted mother and wife; her "boys" were the light of her life. She was an active member of Centenary United Methodist Church delivering meals for Meals on Wheels, and participating in a weekly Bible study group. She was formerly a Big Sister and active in her former church as an adult leader in the youth group at Decatur United Methodist Church in Georgia.

In addition to her parents, Cheryl is survived by her husband, Blaine, whom she married Sept. 19, 1992; sons, Logan and Levi; brother and sister-in-law, Eric and Nancy Hardin of East Liberty; sister and brother-in-law, Cynthia and Scott Orr of East Liberty; and nieces and nephews.

Family will receive friends Thursday, 5 to 8 P.M., at the Bryn Du Mansion, 537 Jones Road NE, Granville. Friends are asked to bring photos, stories and other remembrances of Cheryl to share. Online condolences may be expressed at www.mcpeekhoekstra.com.

Memorial contributions may be made to Granville Studio Visual Arts (GSVA) with Christopher Carlson Scholarship Fund written in the memo, 537 Jones Road NE, Granville, Ohio 43023.
