Christopher Innis, age 73, of Athens, passed away on Thursday, August 29, 2024, at his residence.
Born July 26, 1951, in Newark, Ohio, he was the son of the late John Alden and Dorothy Joan (Edwards) Innis. He retired from Athens County Human Services in 1998 as the Assistant Director where he had been employed since July 1978. He then worked for the State of Ohio Department of Human Services in County Finance before retiring in 2006. He enjoyed several years following that as a consultant for various county welfare districts.
Chris served on the Athens County Children Services Board since October 2007. He had been an Opera House Guild Volunteer and volunteered many seasons at Stuart's and at the Nelsonville Music Festival. He loved music in all of its forms. Chris often served on his Granville High School Reunion Committee for the class of '69. He held a private pilot's license, loved woodworking and driving, especially driving his Mazda Miata.
Chris is survived by his wife Darleen Cramer Innis and a son John N. Innis of Athens.
A Celebration of Life Gathering for Chris will be held from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. on Saturday, September 28, 2024, at Stuart's Opera House, 54 Public Square, Nelsonville, OH 45764.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Stuart's Opera House.
