A memorial service celebrating the life of Corinne Bacon Ailes, 90, of Granville, will be held at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, September 11, 2021 at First Presbyterian Church, 110 W. Broadway, Granville with Rev. Liz Tietz as celebrant. Private interment will be held at Maple Grove Cemetery in Granville.
Corinne passed away Friday, August 6, 2021 at Middleton Senior Living. She was born in Detroit, Michigan to the late Owen Stovall and Grace Bacon. Corinne remained a loyal Wolverine fan and was a life-time member of the University of Michigan Alumni Club. She was also a fan of the Blue Aces. GO BLUE!!!
A graduate of the University of Michigan, Corinne continued her education earning a Master’s Degree from a smaller less significant university somewhere in THE Columbus, Ohio area. She enjoyed a career as a speech pathologist working with students in Granville Schools, Licking Valley Schools, and Heath Schools.
Playing tennis, golf, and traveling were Corinne’s favorite past-times. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Granville, where she served as an Elder and Deacon and was a member of Alpha Chi Omega, P.E.O. Chapter AB, Licking County Retired Teachers Assoc., Monday Talks, Progressive Club, Freedom Years, Darners Club, and several Bridge clubs. Corinne volunteered locally with A Call to College and the TWIG Thrift Store. Adored by her grandchildren she will forever remain “Grandma C.” Almost every summer of her life, Corinne spent time in Northern Michigan continuing a family tradition that is now in its fifth generation. There will continue to be many sunset toasts to come in her honor.
Surviving are her children, Linda Grace Ailes and Todd Herbert (Laura Sundin) Ailes; grandchildren, Benjamin (Catherine) Robertson, Lucas (Emily Brodie) Robertson, Kyle H. (Jetton) Ailes, and Keith R. Ailes; great grandchildren, Lucas, Miles, Brody, and Trace.
In addition to her parents, Corinne was preceded in death by her daughter-in-law, Karen Felumlee Ailes.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 P.M. Friday, September 10, 2021 at McPeek-Hoekstra Funeral Home in Granville. Online condolences may be expressed at www.mcpeekhoekstra.com.
The family would like to thank Middleton Senior Living, Hospice of Central Ohio, the Hoekstras and all of Mom’s and our dear friends for the love and caring they have shown Mom, as well, as her family, all these years. Our mother loved and appreciated every single one of you.
