Curt Landis

A funeral service for Curtis "Curt" O. Landis, 51, of Fredonia, will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, at McPeek Funeral Home, 133 S. Prospect Street, Granville with Pastor Jeff Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Fredonia Cemetery.

Curt died due to a vehicular accident on his farm on Friday, October 10, 2008. He was born November 13, 1956 in Newark, to Emma (Hankison) and the late Owen Landis.

A hard-working individual, Curt had many talents including operating commercial vehicles, hanging dry wall, metal framing, truck repairing, and farming. Most recently, Curt was employed as a truck driver for Hope Timber. Fearless and full of life, Curt enjoyed deer hunting, NASCAR, breeding pit bulls, and mushroom hunting. Most of all, his greatest joy in life was his family.

Surviving are his mother, Emma Landis of Smith Grove, KY; wife of 21 years, Tammie (O'Dell) Landis of Fredonia; sons, Nathan Landis of Mt. Vernon, and Hank Landis of Fredonia; daughters, Tabitha Landis of Mt. Vernon, and Sarah Landis of Marengo; grandchildren, Colten, Cayleb, Kayla, Haylie, Curtis, and Carter; sister, Lynn Kruger (Alex) of Smith Grove, KY; half-sister, Carol Landis of Logan; brother-in-law Todd (Kay) O'Dell of Newark; sisters-in-law, Tawna O'Dell-England of Newark and Tiffany (Troy) Hottle of Newark; nephew, Jesse Hawk of Columbus; closest friends, Cliff Shellenbarger, Steve Rose, Gail Rice, Terry Vanwy, Jimmy Mitchell and too many more to name; and favorite canine campanion, "Nattie".

In addition to his father, Curt was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Vern L. and Opal D. Hankison and his aunt, Betty J. Hankison-Wilson.
