Dan A. Cordray

A funeral service celebrating the life of Dan A. Cordray, 76, of Heath will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, September 16, 2011 at McPeek-Hoekstra Funeral Home, 133 S. Prospect Street, Granville with Rev. Jeff Gill officiating. Burial will follow at Licking Cemetery in Hebron.

Dan died Monday, September 12, 2011 at Arlington Care Center in Newark. He was born May 4, 1935 in Greensrun, Ohio to the late Charles A. Cordray and Doris (Fierbaugh) Cordray.

A plumber, Dan was employed by Denison University, Houston Plumbing and Heating, and retired from Owens Corning where he worked with the boilers. Dan enjoyed farming, and he was a volunteer with the Granville Township Fire Department and was a member of the Buckeye Lake Eagles.

Surviving are his mother; wife of ten years, Beverly (Welch) Cordray, whom he married February 20, 2001, son and daughter-in-law, Ernie and Betty Jo Cordray of Granville; daughters and sons-in-law, Jean Caulley and Engram Hazellief of Ft. Pierce, FL, Connie and Chuck Grissom of Raleigh, NC, and Joyce and Tim Blackstone of Newark; step-daughters and husband, Cindy Deal of Warren, Jane and Eric Kelly of Hickson, TN; step-sons and their wives, Steve Deal of Newark, Robert and Dee Deal of Fontana, CA, Richard and Barb Deal of Thurmont, MD, and Bill and Sheri Deal of Newark; nine grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and ten step-great grandchildren; and sister, Doris Ann Sunkle of Canton.

In addition to his father, Dan was preceded in death by his wife of 46 years, Charlotte J. (Hill) Cordray.
