Janice Hilkerbaumer as celebrant. Interment will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery, Granville with military honors rendered by the Licking County Veterans Alliance.
Daniel passed away January 9, 2021 at Middleton in Granville. He was born in Arona, Pennsylvania to the late William and Irene Bossart.
An Army veteran, Daniel served in the Philippines during World War II. He was a graduate of Penn State University and began his career in forestry as a logger working for Northern Lumber Company in Upstate New York. He worked throughout the Mid-Atlantic and south for several lumber companies and served as President of Hamer Lumber in Kenova, West Virginia. He ultimately owned and operated Indian Guyan Lumber in Hurricane, West Virginia. It was his love of the outdoors and growing up in western Pennsylvania that sparked this life-time of work. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing in the mountains of Pennsylvania, and was still playing softball in his 70s.
Daniel had a strong sense of civic responsibility. He was a member of Rotary, Kiwanis, and served as president of the Lions Club in Berlin. He was a lifelong church member, served as Deacon, and taught Sunday school at United Methodist churches for many years. He was a gregarious extrovert who cherished social gatherings, especially those involving his entire extended family that would fill a city park. He will be remembered as an engaged and loving husband, father, and grandfather.
Surviving are his wife of 74 years, Norma; children and their spouses, Patricia Bossart Whitaker and John, Jeff and Bobbie Bossart, Janice Bossart, Doug and Barbara Bossart, and Greg and Erin Bossart; 13 grandchildren, nine great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; sister and brother-in-law, Emma Lou and Charles Easley, nieces and nephews, and many friends.
