A memorial service for Daniel A. "Drew" Neel, Jr., 57, of Granville, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 1, 2009, at St. Luke's Episcopal Church, 107 E. Broadway, Granville with the Rev. Stephen H. Applegate officiating. A private graveside service will be held at Cedar Hill Cemetery prior to the service.
Drew died at Licking Memorial Hospital in Newark due to complications related to his battle with leukemia. He was born August 6, 1951 in Newark to the late Daniel A. and Alice Anne Kennedy Neel.
A graduate of Granville High School, Drew furthered his education at Wilmington College and The Ohio State University. He was employed at Moundbuilders Country Club for many years and more recently at The Granville Market.
Drew was a lifetime member at St. Luke's Episcopal Church where he served as an usher and member of Vestry. An avid reader, history buff, and sports enthusiast, Drew also enjoyed listening to the blues and country music. He will fondly be remembered as a true "Blue Ace" where he helped the basketball and football programs as a statistician.
Surviving are his brother, David B. Neel of Newark; sisters and brothers-in-law, Sarah Neel Goldblatt and David Goldblatt of Granville, Barcy A. Ford and H. Guy Ford of Columbus; uncle and aunt, Dr. J. Halisey Kennedy II and Barbara Kennedy of Portland, Oregon; and numerous beloved cousins.
