David W. Goss

A graveside service will be held for David Whitehill Goss, 73, of Granville, at 11:00 A.M. Friday, May 12, 2017 at Maple Grove Cemetery in Granville with military honors rendered by the Licking County Veterans Alliance.

David passed away May 8, 2017 at his home. He was born in Newark, Ohio to the late Joseph H. and Julia (Whitehill) Goss.

A graduate of Newark High School, David attended The Ohio State University and retired from the U.S. Army and Ohio National Guard 211th Maintenance Company after 22 years of service. He also worked in the family business with his father at Joseph H. Goss Landscape Company and the Granville Orchard which he continued to operate after his father’s death.    Working outside and managing the orchard, taking down trees to cut for firewood, and any other work that would keep him outdoors were his passions in life. He will be remembered as an honest and intelligent man that could fix anything.

Surviving are his wife of 36 years, Jean Ann (Welsh) Goss; sister and brother-in-law, Martha and Craig Saar; brother and sister-in-law, Joseph H. Jr. and Barbara Goss; nieces, Jenny Goss, Julie Carrier and Kathleen Saar; and nephew, James N. Goss; three great nieces and one great nephew.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. at the McPeek-Hoekstra Funeral Home, 133 S. Prospect St., Granville. Online condolences may be expressed at www.mcpeekhoekstra.com.
