David L. Graham

June 12, 1925 — November 5, 2014

A graveside service celebrating the life of David L. Graham, 89, of Newark, will be held Monday, November 10, 2014 at 1:00 P.M. at Maple Grove Cemetery in Granville with his son as celebrant. Full military honors will be rendered by the U.S. Army and Licking County Veterans Alliance.

David went to be with the Lord, Wednesday, November 5, 2014 at the Selma Markowitz Care Center operated by Hospice of Central Ohio. He was born in Johnstown to the late Hayes D. and Oleta Spellman Graham.

A 1943 graduate of Granville High School, David served in the U.S. Army as a Squad Leader with the 99th Infantry Division, 394th Regiment, Company F, during WWII. He was awarded the Bronze Star and a Purple Heart for his service to his country. He will be remembered as a hard-core American who was a hero to many.

In 1985 David retired as a Boilermaker with the Boilermaker's National Transit Division. He was a life member of DAV, Cleveland; a member of American Legion Post #85, Newark; VFW Post #1388, Millersport; and received ministry from the Lighthouse of Utica.

Surviving are his son and daughter-in-law, David B. and Teresa Graham of New Albany; five grandchildren; two great grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Ronald E. and Susan Graham; and sister and brother-in-law, Janet and Ronald Harvot.

In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by his son, Daryl L. Graham; and one brother, John S. Graham.
