Dolores Tincher Barnes

Dolores Tincher Barnes was born and raised in Dayton, Ohio and graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1944. She attended The Ohio State University and received her teaching certificate in 1950. She taught elementary education in Oakwood, Ohio until her son was born and resumed her teaching career after both her children were in college. Additionally, she earned her Master’s Degree in Education from Dayton University at the age of 50 and ultimately retired from teaching after a 26 year career in 1988. She then embarked on an active retirement lifestyle which led to Kendal at Granville where she and her husband, Bill enjoyed the activities, residents, and staff.

With a sense of adventure and willingness to try anything, Dolores loved life. She was a vivacious person who never met a stranger. She was a fervent reader and enjoyed traveling and all aspects of theater. Center stage in life were her children and grandchildren whom she loved and inspired.

Surviving are her husband of 63 years, Bill; children and their spouses, Brad and Maureen Barnes and Barbara and Greg Herkert; grandchildren, A.J. Barnes, Maggie Cruikshank and her husband Deven, and Keith and Jenna Herkert; brother and sister-in-law, Ralph and Joan Tincher; nephew, Rex Tincher; and niece, Amy Fitzsimmons.

A reception honoring Dolores’ life will be held at Kendal at Granville, 2158 Columbus Rd., Granville from 1:00 to 3:00 P.M. on Saturday, March 5, 2016.
