Donald Maxwell, age 90, died August 13, 2022 at home. He was a wonderful, caring, loving man who adored his family. He spent his adult life selling cars (he was the best!), was a gracious host, an avid gardener, a fan of college football, and a kind and gentle man.
Don was born in Sydney, Australia to Charles and Helen Maxwell. He is survived by his wife Beth, children and stepchildren and their families: Douglas and Sheila Maxwell, Daniel Maxwell, David and Susan Maxwell, John and Jane Maxwell, Mary Goldberg and James Fisher, Stephen and Melynda Ullery. Was Gpa Max to: Michael Maxwell and Claire Ziegler, Matthew Maxwell and Loren Carmean, Alexander Maxwell and Leeann Trippett, Stephanie Patterson and John Nalepa, Justin and Kathryn Maxwell, William Maxwell and Carly Hessler, Amy Patterson and Morgan Scroggy, Andrew Maxwell, David Ullery, Nicholas Maxwell and Trisha Prabhu, Kathryn Ullery, Megan Goldberg, and great-grandson Clayton Maxwell. He is also survived by his sister-in law and brother-in-law, Robert and Barbara Fuller and their family, and the family of his sister and brother-in-law (deceased), Kay and Dick Schwartz, and the Kuffner family of his first wife. Many friends will also mourn his loss.
Don was a proud graduate of Purdue University where, in his senior year, served as co-manager for the football team and was a member of Kappa Sigma fraternity. He served as a First Lieutenant in Korea and during R&R met Bette Ruth Kuffner, his first wife. They had four sons and a daughter and lived in Granville for many years while Don had his dealership in Newark. Don won a number of Chevrolet trips to various places, and they enjoyed those travels. After Bette Ruth’s death, Don renewed a friendship with Beth Ullery and they were married for 24 years. They had the opportunity to travel extensively to 6 of the 7 continents and many countries. Every other summer they took their blended family to the beach for a family vacation. Beth and Don had a wonderful life together! He will be greatly missed by so many.
