Don was born October 5, 1928 in Columbus, Ohio to the late Donald W. and Margaret E. (Davis) Young. A 1946 graduate of Granville High School, Don graduated from DePauw University in 1950 and then served two years in the US Army during the Korean conflict.
Don managed the Granville Times stationery and book store for his father from 1950 to 1980 at which time he purchased the business. He sold the Granville Times Book Cellar in December, 1989 and retired after working in the business for 50 years.
