A memorial service for Edna Verginia Overfield, 88, of Granville, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Liberty United Methodist Church, 3375 Dutch Lane Rd, Johnstown with the Rev. Nancy Raypholz officiating. Burial will follow at Woodstock Cemetery in Woodstock, near Mechanicsburg.
Verginia died, November 7, 2007 in Columbus. She was born Nov. 17, 1918 in White County, Indiana to the late Arthur and Mamie (Johnsonbaugh) Jay.
Mrs. Overfield retired in 1988 from the Newark Air Base where she was a computer operator. She was a member of Liberty United Methodist Church and very fond of reading. Verginia was also a former volunteer for TWIG 6 Thrift Shop in Granville.
Surviving are her daughters, Ruth Anne Overfield of Granville and Sheila Anne Swick of Newark; granddaughter, Heather Marie Swick of Newark, grandson Jason Anthony Camp and his fiancAC. Crystal Renee Price of Newark; soon-to-be great-grandson, Anthony Camp; one sister, Alice Marjean Hare of Monticello, IN; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Verginia was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Overfield whom she married March 21, 1942, one brother and two half sisters.
McPeek Funeral Home in Granville is assisting the family with arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made in Verginia's memory to Liberty United Methodist Church, 3375 Dutch Lane Rd., Johnstown, OH 43031.
