A funeral service for Edward W. Lahmon, 92, of Granville, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at McPeek-Hoekstra Funeral Home, 133 S. Prospect St., Granville with the Rev. Walter Bruah officiating. Burial will follow at Fredonia Cemetery.
Edward died Thursday, August 13, 2009 at the Selma Markowitz Care Center operated by Hospice of Central Ohio. He was born in Rocky Fork, Nov. 3, 1916 to the late Joseph Washington and Laura Belle (Wilson) Lahmon.
A 1932 graduate of Granville High School, Edward served in the U.S. Army during WWII. His passion in life was farming. Edward was a hard worker with great accomplishments. He built his own equipment and eventually developed his land into a dairy farm. A loving family man, Edward is known to many for his generosity and will be fondly remembered for his great debates at family gatherings.
Surviving are his daughters and son-in-law, Barbara L. and William P. Cantrell of Amesville, and Sue Smith of Granville; son, Thomas W. Lahmon of Newark; nine grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; one sister, Vera Lahmon Goodin Albery of Newark; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Evalena May (Cramer); one sister, Neva; and one brother, Floyd.
