Elizabeth E. Newell

A memorial service will be held at a later date for Elizabeth Evans Newell, 94, of Granville.

Mrs. Newell passed away, Wednesday, December 18, 2013 at Kendal at Granville. She was born June 3, 1919 in Lakewood, Ohio to the late Lloyd L. and Grace M. (Stephenson) Evans.

A devoted and loving mother, Betty saw the best in everyone and was a giving person. This was evidenced by her actions in volunteering for meals on wheels, jailhouse ministries, and being a "host mom" for Denison University exchange students. She also had an appreciation and love for nature which she shared with, and passed on to, her children.

Surviving are her children, Steven (Bonnie) Newell of Jekyll Island, GA, Harry Newell of Rockport, MA, and Barbara Newell of Granville; granddaughters and their husbands, Heather and Chris Plastaras of Philadelphia, PA and Mary Beth and Rich Gianni of Cincinnati, OH; great grandchildren, Jaqueline Plastaras and Lucy and Jimmy Gianni.

In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband, William H.B. Newell, Jr. who died in 1987; son, Justin Newell; and three brothers.
