Elizabeth Ross Sheldon

A Mass of Christian Burial for Elizabeth "Liz" Ross Sheldon, 60, of Granville, formerly of Littleton, Colorado, will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday at The Church of Saint Edward the Confessor, 785 Newark-Granville Road, Granville, with Monsignor Paul P. Enke as celebrant.  Interment will be Monday at 10:15 a.m. at Maple Grove Cemetery.

Liz, the Administrative Manager at Park National Bank Commercial Loan Department in Newark, died peacefully at home on Tuesday, October 14, 2008, after a courageous battle against breast cancer.  She was born October 24, 1947 in Wooster, to Anna (Gallagher) and the late Robert Ross.

A 1965 graduate of Wooster High School, Liz, was previously employed at Sheplers in Denver, CO., and Lightning Rod Insurance in Wooster.   She was a member of Saint Edward the Confessor Catholic Church where she served on parish council and as a lector. She was also a member and past-president of P.E.O. Chapter EL in Newark.

Liz had a real zest for life and was loved by everyone who knew her.  She was an avid reader and enjoyed spending time quilting and cross stitching.  Liz was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, and she loved spending time with her family, vacationing at the beach, and summers at Spring Valley Pool.  She always paid attention to football especially OSU Buckeyes and the Denver Broncos.  Liz was a caring and sharing friend to so many people and has left behind a collection of close friends from wherever she went.  Her sense of humor and caring support enriched the lives of all who knew her.  Liz and Ron were always ready for an adventure and loved to travel together with their friends with recent trips to Hawaii, France, and Italy.  Modest to a fault about herself, Elizabeth was especially happy and proud of her three children and their spouses but was especially happy and proud to be the beloved grandmother to Katherine Elizabeth who was the light of her life.  Liz will be missed by many but always remembered for her sunny smile, big hugs, common sense advice, and ready laugh.

Surviving are her mother, Anna Ross of Wooster; husband, Ronald W. Sheldon, whom she married May 23, 1970; son and daughter-in-law, David and Stephanie Sheldon of Brookfield, WI.; daughters and son-in-law, Amy E. and Todd Bainbridge of Denver, CO. and Laura Sheldon of Columbus; granddaughter, Katherine Elizabeth Sheldon of Brookfield, WI.; brothers, Robert, John, and Chris Ross of Wooster, Harold Ross of Lawrenceville, GA, and George Ross of Orrville; mother-in-law, Margaret Sheldon of South Plainfield, NJ; brothers-in-law, Roger Sheldon of Choctaw, OK., Roy Sheldon of Englewood, FL., and Randy and Wendy Sheldon of Costa Mesa, CA., and sister-in-law, Mary Zukaitis of Panama City Beach, FL; and many nieces and nephews.
