Ella Ethel Myers

A celebration of life gathering for Ella Ethel Myers, 94, of Newark, formerly of Granville, will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Monday, December 27, 2010 with special remembrances at 3 p.m. at the McPEEK-HOEKSTRA FUNERAL HOME, 133 S. Prospect Street in Granville. Private interment will be held at Maple Grove Cemetery in Granville.

Mrs. Myers died Thursday, December 23, 2010 at the Medical Center of Newark. She was born in Hamilton, Ohio to the late James M. and Margaret McDaniel Thompson.

Living in the Welsh Hills, Ethel enjoyed gardening and tending to the family farm and orchard. She also enjoyed reading and refinishing antiques, especially trunks that she would often share with Denison students. Additionally, she volunteered for the Trudeau Guild and Arthritis Foundation. Close with friends and always making new acquaintances, Ethel will be remembered by many who visited the shops in Granville.

Surviving are her daughters and son-in-law, Marsha and Gene Jared of Newark and Margaret Girkins of Kalispell, MT.

In addition to her parents, Ethel was preceded in death by her husband, Milliard W. Myers, who died in 1977, two brothers, and one sister.
