A graveside service will be held at a later date for Ellen Graham Judge, 93, of Newark, formerly of Granville. She died peacefully on Monday, September 5, 2011, in the care of Hospice of Central Ohio in Newark.
Ellen was born December 2, 1917, in Cleveland, Ohio to the late Bernard D. and Zoa C. (Colville) Graham. She married the late John F. Judge on March 18, 1948, and was predeceased by him on May 18, 1969.
A 1935 graduate of Newark High School and Newark College of Commerce, Ellen was an intelligent professional in the workplace who accomplished tasks competently, modestly, and cheerfully. Prior to marriage, she was employed as a secretary at the Pure Oil Company, Eastern Division Production Office in Newark.
From 1961 to 1981, Ellen was the school secretary at Wilson School, Newark Public Schools. At retirement, her time at Wilson was commemorated light-heartedly as "The Ellen Judge Years", and a school employee award given annually was named after her in honor.
Ellen was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church, The Monday Talks, and Daughters of the American Revolution (D.A.R.), Hetuck Chapter. She was a loving, kind, wise, and caring wife, mother, and friend.
Surviving are her sons, Geoffrey Graham Judge (Margaret) of Newark, and Michael P. Judge (Juli) of Chino Hills, CA; grandsons, Graham Judge of Chicago, IL, Jason Judge (Kerry) of Omaha, NE, and Todd Judge (Christin) of Oro Valley, AZ; great-grandchildren, Adam and Kyle Judge of Omaha, NE, and Mackenzie and Madison Judge of Oro Valley, AZ; nieces and nephews, Robert K., James B., Mollie, and Linda Graham; grand-nephews, Timothy, Scott, Ryan, and Brian Graham.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Robert and Richard Graham; and sister, Marian Graham; as well as nephew Michael Graham.
