Granville

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Elnorah Grady Watson, 87, of Granville, at 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday, November 30, 2021 at the Church of St. Edward the Confessor, 785 Newark Granville Rd., Granville with Monsignor Paul P. Enke as celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Newark.

Mrs. Watson, who retired as a teacher with the Licking County Educational Services Center where she worked with the Reading Recovery Program in Licking, Knox, Perry, and Coshocton counties, died November 23, 2021 at SharonBrooke in Newark. She was born in Newark to the late Loretta and James F. Grady.

A graduate of St. Francis de Sales High School in Newark, Mrs. Watson furthered her education at The Ohio State University where she also received her Master’s in Education. She began teaching in the Newark City Schools and retired the first time from Southwest Licking School District after 35 years of teaching.

Elnorah was a member of St. Edwards Church, the Reading Recovery Council of North America, and the O.S.U. Alumni Association.

Surviving are her daughters and sons-in-law, Elaine “Laney” and Ron McLaughin, Carol Sue and Doug Gregory, and Marcia and Dan Gurr; grandchildren, Jena, Jared (Kelsey), Cory, Cara and Hanna McLaughlin; great grandchildren, Watson and Callan; sister-in-law, Mary Grady; brother-in-law, Don Richards; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William W. Watson; brothers and sister-in-law, John Patrick Grady, James and Barbara Grady, and Michael Grady; and sisters, Margaret Barkow, Mary Elizabeth Lowendick, and Connie Richards.

Friends may call from 4:00–7:00 P.M. Monday at the McPeek-Hoekstra Funeral Home, 133 S. Prospect St., Granville. Online condolences may be expressed at www.mcpeekhoekstra.com.
