In Loving Memory of Evelyn Ruth Michael

Evelyn Ruth Michael was born Evelyn Ruth Ward on July 7, 1941, in Waterloo, Indiana, to loving parents Eugene Ward and Helen Mortorff Ward.

Evelyn married her husband of 64 years, Laddie Leo Michael, on June 28, 1959. They shared a lifetime of joy, challenges, and cherished moments.

Evelyn was a proud graduate of the Class of 1959 from Reading High School in Reading, Michigan.

She was a devoted homemaker in her early years, supporting her husband's career through moves from Michigan to Ohio to Arkansas and back to Ohio, finally setting permanent roots in Granville, Ohio. As her boys entered middle and high school, she embarked on a successful career as a Realtor.

One of Evelyn's passions in life was her love for cooking, which led her to join the Granville Gourmet Club. She delighted in preparing delicious meals for her family and friends. Evelyn also served as a Cub Scout Den Mother and volunteered for her church community. Evelyn's love for feeding others extended to her son's high school football and basketball teams, where she joined other parents in preparing and serving pre-game meals.

Upon retirement, Evelyn and Ladd embarked on new adventures. They traveled to the Florida Keys in their motor home, towing a Jeep with kayaks on the roof and bicycles on the back. Their time in the Keys was filled with fishing, collecting seashells, and enjoying gatherings with friends and family. Later, they traded their motor home for a house in Palmetto, Florida, overlooking Terra Ceia Bay.

We will remember Evelyn for her love of family, cooking, and books. She leaves behind a legacy of warm memories and laughter that will live on in the hearts of her loved ones.

Surviving are Evelyn's loving husband, Laddie Leo Michael; her children, Guy Eugene Michael and Jeffrey Alan Michael; her grandchildren, Haley Michael, Margaret Michael, Lydia Michael, and Simon Michael; her sister, Marilyn Ward Stevens and brother James Ward; and numerous friends, nieces, nephews and other relatives.

In honor of Evelyn's life, the family will hold a graveside memorial service for family and friends at 11 a.m. on Friday, October 6, 2023, at Maple Grove Cemetery in Granville, Ohio with Celebrant Clifford Mason officiating.
