Faye Elizabeth Norris

October 7, 1921 — May 11, 2010

Faye E. Norris, a resident of Westminster-Thurber Assisted Living in Columbus since 2006, and formerly of Granville, died on May 11, 2010.  She was 88 years old.  She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Gail R. Norris.  She is also survived by her sister, Eileen Watkins of Columbus, and by her three children, Linda Wallace of Sudbury, Massachusetts; Barbara Vogel of Columbus, Ohio; and Ronald Norris of Reynoldsburg, Ohio.  She leaves four grandchildren:   Katie Wallace; John Wallace; Brian Norris; and Sara Norris.  Her brother, Ansel Chandler, predeceased her.

Mrs. Norris was born in Tippecanoe, Ohio on October 7, 1921 to Clarence and Bertha Chandler, and spent her childhood there on the family farm.  She received a bachelor's degree from Ohio University in 1941.  After her marriage in 1944 to Gail R. Norris the couple lived in Columbus and in Alliance before moving to Granville.  She and Gail lived in Granville for 46 years from 1959 to 2006.   Faye was an elementary school teacher in the Newark City Schools from 1959-1981.  She was active in the American Association of University Women and the Centenary United Methodist Church.

A private family burial service will be held at College Cemetery on the campus of Denison University, arranged by the McPeek-Hoekstra Funeral Home in Granville.  Online condolences may be expressed at www.mcpeekhoekstra.com.
