A funeral service for Frances Irene Clodfelter, 69, of Granville, will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, December 21, 2009 at Centenary United Methodist Church, 102 E. Broadway, Granville with the Rev. Stephen J. Cramer officiating. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery in Granville.
Irene died Tuesday, December 15, 2009. She was born August 21, 1940 in Mountain Grove, MO to the late Ira and Beatrice (Waggoner) Howk.
An educator for 37 years, Irene retired from Heath City Schools where she taught Special Education. She was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church where she taught 5th grade Sunday school, adult bible studies, and Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Devout in her faith, church was very important to Irene. Her hobbies included sewing, quilting, and a variety of other crafts. She also enjoyed listening to hymns and classical music. Her love of education and reading was apparent, as she always had a book in her hand. She will be fondly remembered for the care and compassion she shared with others.
Surviving are her husband of 49 years, W. Ray Clodfelter, whom she married November 20, 1960; daughter, Ellen Clodfelter; and son, Gene Clodfelter, both of Newark. In addition to her parents, Irene was preceded in death by one sister.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. at the McPEEK-HOEKSTRA FUNERAL HOME in Granville. Online condolences may be expressed at www.mcpeekhoekstra.com.
