A memorial service celebrating the life of Frances Salt Ritchie, 87, formerly of Palm Coast, Florida and Staten Island, NY will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, September 19, 2015 at Immanuel Union Church, 693 Jewett Ave., Staten Island, New York with the Rev. Charles Baldini as celebrant.

Frances passed away September 11, 2015 at Chapel Grove Inn, Heath, Ohio. She was born in 1927 in Carrollton, Georgia to the late Robert P. and Pauline Cottingham and would later relocate with her family to Williamsburg, Virginia where she grew up and graduated from Matthew Whaley School. She went on to Wagner College, Staten Island, NY where she graduated with a degree in Education and a Masters Degree.  She taught elementary school and was a reading specialist at P.S. 30 in Staten Island for thirty years.

An ardent golfer, Frances also enjoyed gardening, reading, jewelry making, and was a talented watercolor artist. Full of life, she loved dancing and traveling with her husband and cherished their time in Palm Coast, Florida.

She was a member of the Lion’s Club and Palm Coast United Methodist Church where she served as a Stephen Minister.

Surviving are her husband John “Jack” Ritchie of Granville, whom she married in 1993; children and their spouses, Susan and William Broadhurst, Gail and Doug Eklof, William and Linda Salt, Mark and Kim Salt, and Robert and Linda Ritchie; nine grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Rita Cottingham.

In addition to her parents, Frances was preceded in death by her first husband, William P. Salt; and a brother, Robert P. Cottingham.
