Frank was born March 11, 1933 in Lakewood, Ohio to the late Joseph Andrew and Elizabeth Mary (Pinter) Chester. He passed away on Sunday, August 11, 2024 at the Selma Markowitz Care Center (operated by Ohio’s Hospice of Central Ohio).

Frank faithfully served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War and was so proud to participate in Honor Flight Columbus in September of 2019. Frank retired first from General Motors in Columbus and later from Sears in Columbus. He also worked second jobs as a cook and a grocery stocker. Frank and his wife were longtime members of St. Cecilia Church in Galloway where they cooked for funeral luncheons, spaghetti dinners, and other church events, as well as made bologna sandwiches monthly for St. Vincent DePaul. He and his wife became members of the Church of St. Edward the Confessor when they moved to Granville.

Frank enjoyed gardening, reading and playing Poker. Trips to Las Vegas and to the Hollywood Casino in Columbus were something that he enjoyed with his family. An excellent baker and cook, Frank will long be remembered for his signature crepes, many cookies including Pizzelles and Italian cookies, and his homemade bread. His Chicken Paprikash was one of his family’s most favorite dishes. Fondly known as “Superman”, Frank was very proud of the fact that his cousin was one of the early illustrators of Superman.

He is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Joan Ann (Yanak) Chester, whom he married May 15, 1954; children, Barb (Mike) Barbo of North Royalton, Phillip Chester of Norwalk, Rosanne (Mike) Weber of Galloway, Andrea (Dave) Shuffield of Missouri, Julianne Johnson of Hilliard, Cheryl (Doug) Houser of Granville, Gregory (Julie Marie) Chester of Sunbury, Daniel (Michelle) Chester of Olmsted Falls, and Jeffery Chester of North Carolina; 27 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and one on the way; a brother, Tom (Mary Jane) Chester of Brunswick; sister, Anna Kay of Lakewood and Rose Wasuk of Bay Village; son-in-law, Bill Wiesler of Olmsted Falls; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his eldest daughter, Sharon M. Wiesler; brothers, Mike, Joe, Steve, and John; and sisters, Betty and Mary.

To his entire family, he will always be Our Superman.
