Geneva Newman

September 9, 1920 — February 28, 2015

A graveside service for Geneva Newman, 94, of Gahanna will be held Saturday, March 14, 2015 at 2:00 P.M. at Mound Cemetery in Piketon, Ohio.

Geneva passed away Saturday, Feb. 28, 2015 at The Rehabilitation and Health Center of Gahanna. She was born in 1920 in Portsmouth, Ohio to the late Montague Virgil and Mary Ethel (Teston) Newman.

Prior to graduating from Scioto Township High School, Geneva also attended Lucasville and North Lewisburg Schools. She was an avid reader of both fiction and nonfiction. She enjoyed golf, bowling, and bike riding.

After retiring from a career in retail sales throughout Ohio, Louisville, Kentucky, and many years at Schaclne's Shackley's in Chillicothe, "Aunt Ginny" moved to Gahanna to be near her niece, Michelle Lancour and her family, who kept a close watch over her care. Jenny especially enjoyed watching her great great nieces and nephews grow from the time they were born. She will be remembered as a loving aunt and a classy lady.

Surviving are her sister, Vivian (Bill) Buccalo of Marquette, Mich; nieces and nephews; Michelle Lancour, Gina Buccalo, Robin Baker, Bill Buccalo, Jodell Ryan, Martha Lee, and John Newman; great nieces and nephews, and great great nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Geneva was preceded in death by six brothers, Clifford, Brady, Raymond, Wilburn, Paul, and Ralph; and three sisters, Marguerite Bender, Edith Grater, and Betty Newman.
