George Marovich

A funeral service celebrating the life of George Marovich, age 91, of Granville, will be held at 12:00 p.m. in the chapel of the McPeek Hoekstra Hoskinson Funeral Home, 133 South Prospect Street in Granville with Fr. Isak Kisin officiating. The family will receive friends on Friday morning from 10 am until the time of the service. Burial with full military honors by the Licking County Veterans Alliance will follow in the Maple Grove Cemetery, Granville, where George will be laid to rest next to his beloved wife, Joan, who preceded him in death in 2009.

George was born April 7, 1933, in Ambridge, Pennsylvania, the son of the late Andrew and Milica (Marcon) Marovich. He was a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh, served honorably in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict, and retired as an Accountant.

George loved to travel, to golf, was a Civil War history buff, and most of all, enjoyed spending time with his family.

He is survived by his children: Andrew (Nichole), Danica, and Michael (Tarla); his grandchildren, Stephanie (Phyllip), Stephen (Lindsay), Samantha (Kevin), Rebecca (Jeff), Alexis (Sonny), Aaron, Michael, Briana, Celecia, and Christopher; great grandchildren, Brayden, Kole, Maci, Brenden, Mason, Brionna, and “Jeda’s princess” Gabriella.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Sheryl Nagy.

The family prefers that memorial contributions be directed to the Licking Memorial Hospital Foundation, 1320 West Main Street, Newark, OH 43055 for the benefit of the CCU.
