A funeral service celebrating the life of George Lige Davison, 92, of Alexandria, will be held at 10:00 A.M. Thursday, August 30, 2018 at Alexandria Baptist Church, 94 E. Main Street, Alexandria.  Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Alexandria with military honors rendered by the Licking County Veterans Alliance.

A retired dairy farmer, Lige passed away Monday, August 27, 2018 at the Selma Markowitz Care Center in Newark. He was born in Alexandria to the late Glenn W. and Zola Davison.

A staple in the Alexandria community, Lige was the third generation to operate the family farm that dates back to 1858. After graduating from Alexandria High School, he served in the U.S. Navy during WWII.  As a dairy farmer, Lige didn’t have much time for hobbies, but made time to participate in the Alexandria Fun Days inaugural tractor pull in 1951 and continued his participation for 65 years straight (from 1951 - 2016).  After retiring from farming, he enjoyed his time spent with the Alexandria Coffee Club and Buckeyes Senior Group. He enjoyed bowling, reading westerns, any sports and most especially O.S.U. football. He was a member of the Alexandria Baptist Church, Licking County Farm Bureau, Producers Livestock Assoc., Center Star Masonic Lodge, Milk Marketing Assoc., charter member of the Licking County Agrology Club, and past director of the Alexandria Bank. Lige will be remembered for his orneriness and amazing work ethic.

Surviving are his son, Steven Davison; daughter and son-in-law, Pamela and Steven Hills; granddaughters and their husbands, Amy and Eric Albery, Anita and Tim McCoy, and Amanda and William King, great grandchildren, Joel Hale, Makenna Hale, Blake Albery, Eliot Albery. and Victoria McCoy.

In addition to his parents, Lige was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Betty and sister, Joyce Harris.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 P.M. Wednesday, August 29, 2018 at the Alexandria Baptist Church.
