Gilbert L. Krone

A funeral service celebrating the life of Gilbert L. Krone, 81, of Granville will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, December 9, 2017 at the McPeek-Hoekstra Funeral Home, 133 S. Prospect St., Granville with Rev. Jeff Smith as celebrant. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Granville. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

A retired family law attorney, Gil passed away Sunday, December 2, 2017 at the Selma Markowitz Care Center in Newark. He was born in Martins Ferry, Ohio in 1936 to the late Gilbert and Mary (Feachen) Krone.

A U.S. Army veteran, Gil served with the artillery division in Germany. He attended West Liberty State College where he met his future wife Joan E. Neuhart and then furthered his education at Ohio Northern University where he earned his Juris Doctorate. He worked with the Ohio Department of Natural Resources and retired from his private practice in Columbus. Gil was a member of the Columbus Bar Ethics Committee and assisted families as a volunteer with legal aid in Newark. He was an honest, caring, and compassionate attorney. An arborist at heart, Gil will be remembered as a man of character who loved his family, the outdoors, and his canine companions.

Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Joan; son and daughter-in-law, Matthew L. and Meg Krone; grandchildren, Lars and Liza; sister and brother-in-law, Connie and Gerald Donahue and his Newfies, Socrates, Solomon, and Samson.

In addition to his parents, Gil was preceded in death by his brother Edward.
