A funeral service for Gladys V. Jones, 85, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Centenary United Methodist Church, 102 E. Broadway, Granville, with the Rev. Stephen J. Cramer officiating. Burial will follow in Poplar Fork Cemetery in Gratiot. Mrs. Jones died January 27, 2007, at Newark Health Care Centre. She was born April 3, 1921 in Gratiot to the late Charles R. and Mabel G. (Osburn) Snider. Gladys was a 1939 graduate of Hopewell High School where she played basketball and softball. Mrs. Jones was employed in food service at Denison University for 44 years, working at Slater Hall Snack Bar and Curtis Dining Hall. Gladys was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church and a 50 year member of Brownsville #486 Order of Eastern Star. Gladys enjoyed being a grandmother, gardening, square dancing, and traveling. Surviving are her son, Doug Jones of Newark; daughter, Diane Jones of Newark; Grandchildren, Katie Jones of Westerville and Kris Jones of Portsmouth; brothers and sister-in-law, Russell and Janet Snider of Newark and Clyde Snider of Gratiot; several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Gladys was preceded in death by her husband Frank K. Jones whom she married June 6, 1943; one brother, Paul Snider and one sister, Erma Steele. The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the McPeek Funeral Home, 133 S.
