A memorial service will be held at later date for Heather Ruth Rossborough Hughes Titley, 96, of Granville. Mrs. Titley passed away February 16, 2018 at Kendal at Granville. She was born in Koondruck, Victoria, Australia in 1921 to the late Francis Fullerton Hughes and Kathleen Meredith Dann Hughes.
Heather was owner/broker at Sellers’ Real Estate in Granville. In the 1960’s she was the first woman real estate broker in Granville and mentored many men and women who went on to open their own practices in town and around the county. She was a past President of Twig #6 in Granville, founded and was a past President of the Granville Chapter of Zonta International, a professional women’s service organization, and was President of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary. For more than forty years she was happily an active member of the Granville Tennis Club. Additionally, she was a member of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, Granville Town and Country, and the PTA.
Devoted to family, Heather will be remembered as an early feminist, avid sportswoman, loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, Roger and Jo-Ann Barr Titley; daughters and sons-in-law, Ruth and Edward Kerl and Pamela and Stanley Switlik, II; grandchildren Kathryn and Kristin Titley, Heather Switlik Scholes (Greer), Sarah Switlik Brooks (Alexander), Henry Switlik, and great grandchildren Greer and George Scholes.
In addition to her parents, Heather was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Raymond G. Titley, brother, Maxwell Hughes and sister Dorothea Hughes Haslam.
