Helen Marie Morriss

A memorial service celebrating the life of Helen Marie Morriss, 90, of Newark, will be held Tuesday, June 21, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Vineyard of Licking County, 7602 Stewart Road N.E., Newark, Ohio with Pastor Steven Osborne officiating. A private burial will be held at Newark Memorial Gardens.
Helen passed away peacefully Friday, June 17, 2011 at the Autumn Health Care Center in Newark. She was born February 6, 1921 in Willard, Ohio to the late Arthur and Sylvia (Carpenter) McDowell.
A retired secretary from the Licking County Health Department, Helen was previously employed by Ferris Tire and Rubber and held a position as secretary for a local optometrist and church in Willard.
Helen, a devout Christian, was a member of Vineyard of Licking County and was affiliated with Aglow International where she served as past-president in the Newark chapter. She received an associate degree in bible study. Aside from her church family, Helen was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and J. David Rinehart of Granville; grandchildren and their spouses, Amy and Brent Vincent of Hendersonville TN, Jenifer Rinehart of Norwell, MA, Elizabeth and Tom Parsons of Lake Forest, IL, and Susan Winnard of Clintonville; six great-grandchildren, Olivia and Grace Vincent, Nathaniel Rinehart, Fiona Parsons, Alison and Emily Winnard; sister, Jane Costein of Willard; three foster children; one foster grandson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Franklin Morriss; son, David Morriss; two brothers; and three sisters.
