A memorial service for Henry E. Klotz, Jr., 86, of Granville was held at Centenary United Methodist Church, 102 E. Broadway, Granville with the Rev. Stephen J. Cramer officiating. A private graveside service was held in Maple Grove Cemetery in Granville. Henry died April 22, 2007 at Flint Ridge Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Newark. He was born January 18, 1921 in Witten, Germany to the late Emil Heinrich and Wilhelmine Martha (Schongarth) Klotz. A 1939 graduate of Schenly High School in Pittsburgh, Henry was also an honorary member of Granville High School's classes of 1936 and 1937. After working as a mason for several years, Henry founded Klotz Masonary Construction in 1956 and operated it until his retirement in 1991. The business continues today under his son's supervision. Mr. Klotz was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church since 1946, Granville Conservation Club, Apple Valley Fish Club, Granville Forum, Newark Maennerchor, and served on many committees with the Boy Scouts of America. He was honored to earn the Silver Beaver Award for his dedication to scouting. Surviving are his son and daughter-in-law, Jeffrey E. and Karen McKenna Klotz of Newark; daughter, Barbara Klotz Martin of Newark; granddaughters, Krista Klotz Collins and her husband Ty, Wendy Klotz Raucci and her husband Nick, and Kelli Martin Sheppard and her husband Scott; great-grandchildren, Laurel Gustafson, Joseph and Benjamin Raucci, and Malloreigh and Garrett Sheppard; sister, Billie Klotz Smith of Pittsburgh, PA; sister-in-law, Marjorie Johnson of Newark; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Klotz was preceded in death by his wife Evalyn I. (Crooks) Klotz, whom he married May 30, 1943 in Newark; one sister, Frieda Capizzi and one brother, Rudi G. Klotz.
