Henry E. Whitehead

A memorial service for Henry E. Whitehead, 92, of Granville, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, August 9, 2010 at Centenary United Methodist Church, 102 E. Broadway, Granville with the Rev. Stephen J. Cramer officiating. A private graveside service will be held at Maple Grove Cemetery in Alexandria.

Mr. Whitehead, a farmer and breeder of registered Angus cattle, died Thursday, August 5, 2010 at Mt. Carmel East Hospital. He was born June 30, 1918 in Granville to the late M. Stuart and Delia (Hayes) Whitehead.

A 1936 graduate of Union High School, Henry married Roberta Williams on May 1, 1941 in Alexandria and together they farmed and raised Angus cattle.

Mr. Whitehead was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church for more than 85 years, Heart of Ohio Angus Association, American Angus Association, Licking County Cattlemen's Association, Ohio and National Cattlemen's Association, The Agrology Club, and 4-H Alumni Club. He had served 20 years as a 4-H Advisor and was a member of the Hartford Fair Board of Directors for 20 years.

Surviving are his sons and daughter-in-law, Marion W. Whitehead of Newark, Ohio and Benjamin D. and Katherine A. (Buffy) Whitehead of Granville, Ohio; grandchildren, Mark (Lane) Whitehead of Memphis, TN, Michael (Heather) Whitehead of Granville, Ohio, Kimberly (Jason) Lohnes of Westerville, Ohio, and David (Jen) Whitehead of Cincinnati, Ohio; great- grandsons, Sullivan, Shane, Coleman, Matthew and Spencer Whitehead; great- granddaughter Jana Lane; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Henry was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Roberta who died July 30, 2006 and one brother, Dr. William H. Whitehead.
