Herbert C. Kraning, 83, of Punta Gorda, Fla., passed away Tuesday, April 29, 2014. He moved to Newark, Ohio, in 1955 from Detroit, Mich., and then moved to Punta Gorda in 1987. Herbert worked as Master Mechanic for Rockwell International in Detroit and Newark; he retired in 1985 after 32 years of service.
Herbert was baptized and a member of Lutheran Church Missouri Synod. He was a shop instructor at Heath Vocational School in Heath, Ohio and was also a veteran of the Michigan Air National Guard.
Herbert is survived by his wife of 43 years, Rosemary Kraning; sons, Herbert (Debi) Kraning of Newark, Gordon (Barbara) Kraning of Lafayette, Ind., and Paul Kraning of Newark; brothers, Kenneth (Barbara) Kraning of Pinckney, Mich., and Gordon (Shirley) of Livonia, Mich.; granddaughters, Corey Haynes and Bridget Searer; grandsons, Kyle Kraning, Greg Kraning and Adam Kraning; great-granddaughters, Briley Searer, Allyson Searer, Adeline Kraning and Sophia Haynes; and great-grandson, Braxton Kraning. He was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert E. and Grace L. Kraning; and his son, Larry Kraning.
A graveside service will be held at 3:00 P.M. Saturday, May 31, 2014 at Maple Grove Cemetery in Granville.
