Jane E. Hinterschied

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Jane E. Hinterschied, age 89, of Columbus, at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, August 4, 2022 at St. Pius X Church, 1051 Waggoner Rd., Reynoldsburg, OH with Rev. Michael Hinterschied as celebrant. Entombment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Etna.

A graduate of Holy Rosary High School (1951), Jane passed away July 31 at her son’s home in Granville. She was born in Columbus, Ohio to the late Joseph and Josephine Boland. She was employed at St. Pius Church where she was a library assistant and the school secretary. She retired from the U.S. Geological Survey where she served as an administrative secretary.

Foremost, Jane was a sweetheart with a good sense of humor. She enjoyed various movie genres, with her favorite being Golden Age cinema, and especially enjoyed Cary Grant, Gary Cooper and Paul Newman. She also loved a good musical or play, reading a suspense novel by the fireplace, and warm summer evenings on the porch overlooking Buckeye Lake. Jane’s dancing skills were well known, even later in life.

Jane was a dedicated wife and a great mother whose occasional Irish temper kept three boys lovingly in line. She will be remembered for her love and dedication to family and heartfelt concern for everyone around her.

Surviving are her sons and daughters-in-law, Gregg and Barbara, Kurt and Petra, and Chris and Judi; grandchildren, Rev. Michael Hinterschied, Emily (Trey) Mosier, and Isaac Hinterschied; great grandchildren, Ella, Earnest, and Eve.

In addition to her parents, Jane was preceded in death by husband Theodore and sister Ann Boland McFadden.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to Mass of Christian Burial at the church.
