A memorial service for Janet R. Groething, 85, of Newark will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2008, at Pilgrim Lutheran Church, 309 W. Broadway, Granville, with the Pastor Daniel Ruff officiating. A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 11, at Oaklands Cemetery in West Chester, PA with the Rev. William Seamon-McGowan officiating.
Mrs. Groething died January 6, 2008, at the Selma Markowitz Care Center operated by Hospice of Central Ohio. She was born December 31, 1922 to the late Edward and Margaret (Cole) Brainard.
A remarkable, uncommon, beautiful, woman, Janet was a member of Pilgrim Lutheran Church in Granville, where she was active in the Women's Guild. She loved traveling with her husband, Einar, meeting new people, and experiencing different cultures.
Surviving are her husband of 56 years, Einar Groething of Newark; daughters and sons-in-laws Janice Groething-Hnat and Jerry of Pittsburgh, PA, Nancy Kowalski of Newark, Leslie Groething and Mevin Edwards of Indianapolis, IN, and Karen Groething of Silver Spring, MD; brothers and sister-in-law Robert Brainard of Battle Creek, MI, Perry A. Brainard of Harrah, OK and Clifford and Jean Brainard of Rogers, AR.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Sara Groething.
