Janet F. Shea age 88, of Granville, was born December 28, 1934 in Flushing, New York to the late James and Marie  (Daly) Flynn. She died peacefully at her home on Saturday, April 29, 2023 surrounded by her loving children.

Janet was a 1952 graduate of Flushing High School in Queens, New York. She retired from The Ohio State University where she was employed in management and admissions. Janet loved traveling and visited many countries all over the world. She enjoyed family vacations at the beach and reading. Janet was an animal lover and advocate and especially enjoyed her beloved boxers, having too many to mention. She enjoyed watching and feeding the birds in her yard. Janet was very artistic and expressed her creativity through painting, needlework, gardening, flower arranging, and miniatures. She was a member of St. Edward the Confessor Catholic Church and for many years enjoyed facilitating the church fish fry.

Janet was a loving and devoted mother to her children, and grandmother to her grandchildren, and great-grandchilden. She is survived by three children, J. Todd Shea, Tracey (William) Fleitz, and Laura (Michael) Duncan; son-in-law, Neil Butt, all of Granville; grandchildren, Jessica (Anthony) Mautz, Joshua Butt, Megan (Carl) Roberts, Christopher, Kate, and Claire Duncan; great-grandchildren, Madden and Margaret “Maggie” Mautz, and Charlie and Oliver Roberts.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, James J. Shea; a daughter, Brenda Shea Butt; and by two brothers.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, May 5, at The Church of St. Edward the Confessor with Monsignor Paul P. Enke officiating. Private burial will take place in Maple Grove Cemetery.

Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. on Thursday, May 4, at the church, 785 Newark Granville Road in Granville.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Edward the Confessor Catholic Church or to the Licking County Humane Society.
